CJD: Parents please check to see if your child received a permission slip TODAY to view the private screening of the movie Michael. Students that made a 3 or 4 on the ACAP last spring (or have demonstrated excellent effort) are being taken at no cost tomorrow, 5/12. The permission slip must be turned in by 8:30 am tomorrow morning. School lunch is being provided. However, if students want to purchase a small popcorn and drink combo it is $3.50 (No Cash App).

CJD: Friendly reminder that today is a professional development day. Students do not attend school today, only staff. Staff should be on the school grounds by 8:15 am and seated in the media center at 8:25 am.

CJDs Awards Day for 6th and 7th grade will be held on May 13th. 7th grade's program begins at 9:00 am. Parents can begin arriving at 8:45 am. 6th grade's program will begin at 10:30 am; parents are can begin arriving at 10:15 am. There will be a variety of awards for academics, improvements, sports, etc. We look forward to seeing you all there to support our scholars!

CJD: Mandatory IReady testing begins tomorrow, 5/5 through Wednesday, 5/6. ALL students must take their assessment. Please ensure students are present and on time. If a student is suspended, they should report for testing and be picked up at 12:00 pm. Encourage them to do their best!!

CJD: Tutoring ended last week for the remainder of the school year. All students should be picked up at 3:15 pm.

Good morning. 8th grade boys will have high school baseball tryout today at 5pm until 6:30 at Forest hill baseball park.

CJD 8th Grade Parents: Prom pictures will be available tomorrow for $10.00. You will receive a 4x6 with a frame. You can purchase the pictures on site. Additionally, prom tickets can be picked up on arrival at the door. Prom starts at 7:00 pm. Parents should start arriving at 9:45 pm to pick up students. Students should be picked up and off campus by 10:00 pm sharp. We look forward to an "Evening of Royalty!"

CJD: Progress Reports went home today. Please ask your child for the report. Schedule a conference with their teachers if they are failing or in danger of failing.

7th Grade Parents- All 7th grade girls that expressed interest were given consent forms for the following Girls Inc. Programs: A. For the  Preventing Adolescent Programs, your child will be given a simulated doll that will operate as a live baby to promote abstinence. If your child does well, she will be given extra credit in one designated class. B. The Sex Education Course focuses on positive decision making, avoiding risky behaviors, STIs and pregnancy. This course is to simply make them aware & promote abstinence. Consents forms for both programs are due by Thursday, April 16, 2026. No book bags should be brought. If they are, they will be in the hallway not monitored; we are not responsible for missing belongings. Cell phones MUST be turned in or left at home. Additionally, please ensure students get a good nights rest daily and eat before school. Lastly, please encourage them to do their best everyday, every test!!

CJD Parents: There will be free vision screenings given on April 22, 2026 at the school by UAB Eye Care (Gift of Sight). FREE GLASSES will be given if needed. All students were given a paper to be filled out by their guardian. Greetings CJ Donald Family, Our yearbook pre-sale participation is lower than expected. We are extending the date until April 10th in hopes of getting additional support. Don’t miss the chance to purchase the 2025-26 yearbook for $25. We will not order extra copies. Thank you in advance. One year. One book and a lifetime memories!

A parent meeting is scheduled for April 8 at 5:00 PM at the high school. Applications will be given out at the meeting.
