ACAP WEEK: BLOW THE TEST OUT THE WATER Friday 4/4 and Monday 4/8 students will write their names on bubbles and their goal ACAP score to go with our theme above. Monday, 4/8 - Pep Rally Tuesday, 4/9- “True to Blue” Staff and students will wear blue. Staff will meet outside at 7:35 am to greet the students as we clap for ACAP and blow bubbles (“blowing the test out the water). Wednesday, 4/10- “White Out” for students and staff. We will wipe out the test! Thursday, 4/11- “Wear Grey” because we didn't come to play. Friday, 4/12 - “Fly Day”. Where your cleanest and flyest attire and dance away. Students who have exceeded our expectations (perfect attendance, no testing violations, and showed complete focus)will be allowed to attend! We’re so excited to blow the ACAP test out the water!!

Eighth grade pictures will be taken by Mr. King on Thursday April 4, 2024 for girls and April 5, 2024 for boys. Reminder that girls must bring a black tank top and boys bring a white dress shirt with black tie.

C J Donald Updates CJD parents, report cards go out tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/2. Secondly, cheer tryouts start today and extend through Friday with Ms. Sellers for our 6th -8th grade students. Cheerleaders will walk to the high school (with an escort) after school and report to the main gym. Tryouts start promptly at 3:45 pm and end at 6:00 pm. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up from the high school on time.

Important CJD Updates: Tomorrow, Thursday, March 7th will be an early dismissal day to celebrate our High School Boy’s basketball team’s 5A championship win!! The parade is at 1:30 pm. Wear CJD, Fairfield, or purple and gold gear!! Secondly, cheer (Junior Varsity and Varsity) tryouts will be held April 1st-April 5th from 3:45 to 6:00 pm. The tryout fee is $40.00. See Ms. Sellers at the high school for more information.

Summer Program- First Come...First Serve. CJD parents Urban Hope’s Summer program came to speak to our students to see who has an interest. If your child brings home a packet, please ensure it is filled out completely on both sides, signed, and returned to Ms. Adam’s in the front office no later than Friday, March 1st. It is a first come first serve basis so the sooner the better. Once all slots are filled acceptance will end.

GO RED CJD wear red tomorrow, January 24th, to kickoff support for the American Heart Association. Additionally, we are asking that students and teachers bring in donations to raise money for the cause. CJD is competing to raise the most money in the district. No amount is too small. Important CJD Updates and Reminders: 1. The ACAP practice test begins tomorrow through Friday. Every student must take the test. Please have students arrive by 7:45 am all week. 2. Bookbags are not allowed during testing . If bought, they will be outside the classroom while testing. 3. Report cards are being reprinted and sent home tomorrow. 4. Ensure our CJD scholars get plenty of rest and eat breakfast. 5. Tutoring has resumed today. Please ensure tutoring students are picked up by 4:25 pm 6. Non tutoring students should be picked up at 3:15 pm and off campus no later than 3:30 pm.

Please, be advised that last Thursday's regular board meeting that was canceled due to weather, will be held Tuesday, January 23 at 5:30PM at the Fairfield City School District Board of Education. We hope to see you there.

Dear Fairfield City Schools Family, Due to the threat of winter weather, the Fairfield City School District will be CLOSED Tuesday, January 16th. All campuses and buildings will be closed. Employees will not report to work. Students will not report to school. There will also be no athletic or extra-curricular activities. Please, be advised that Governor Kay Ivey has issued a state of emergency due to the forecasted winter weather. Fairfield City School District will continue to monitor the weather advisories. At this time, no decision has been made regarding a Wednesday closure or delay. We will inform you when that happens. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and employees. CJD parents, ACAP practice testing will begin on Tuesday, January 16th up to Monday, January 22nd. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE PRESENT. Testing will start promptly. Please have your children at school by 7:45 am to ensure they do not miss their testing session. Additionally, please ensure they eat breakfast and get plenty of rest the night before each test. Lastly, please stress the importance of taking the test seriously and trying their best.

Dear Fairfield City School Families, Due to the threat of severe weather, Friday, January 12, will be a remote learning and work day for students and employees. All campuses will be closed and student activities are cancelled. Please, remain safe and weather aware.

CJD parents and students, Tutoring is cancelled today due to bus driver issues. Please pick up your child at the regular dismissal time (3:15 pm). Additionally, please communicate to your chld that tutoring is cancelled and what their mode of transportation is today for after school. Thank you.

Progress Reports will be sent home on Wednesday, November 15th. School will be closed November 20-24, 2023 for Thanksgiving Break. Happy Thanksgiving.

CJD's Open House will take place on Wednesday, September 27th. The parent Title 1 Meeting will start at 5:00 pm and Open House will begin at 5:30 pm. Please begin arriving at 4:50 p.m. for the Title One meeting through the lunchroom doors and no later than 5:15 p.m. for the Open House meeting. Open House will be more involved with your child's teacher compared to the Meet and Greet. You will get to go inside their rooms, learn about the course expectations and content, and receive information from the teacher such as the course syllabus. Thus, we hope to see you again if you came last month and we hope to see you for the first time if you didn't make the Meet and Greet! #CJDpride #ittakesavillage

CJD Summer Enrichment Times/Bus Updates/ Report Cards/Registration Updates: 1. Summer Enrichment/Summer School is Monday-Thursday Only (for the month of June). Students can still join summer enrichment. 2. Breakfast will run between 7:30-8:15 am. Lunch will be served between 10:30 to 11:30 am daily. 3. All students should arrive by 8:30 am and be picked up at 2:00 pm and off campus by 2:15 pm (unless they are with the UHOPE program which is at 4:00 pm- If you were not contacted by Ms. Hardy your child is not in the UHope program and needs to be picked up at the 2:00 time). 4. Per the transportation department, this week, students riding the bus should be on their bus route at 7:30 am. More detailed bus routing information and times will be available next week once the drivers know how many students are riding the bus. 5. Stop by the school this week to get report cards and snapcodes. 6. Register your child(ren) online if returning, and in person if new. ** If you have additional questions please call the school.

Summer School Bus Information, Report Card, and Snapcode Updates for CJD Students: Parents, please go to the Google form link at the bottom if your child is participating in summer school or summer enrichment. They can not ride the bus if we do not have their information from the form. Please complete this quick form TODAY so it can be given to the transportation department. Your child will not be picked up by the bus without the form. If you can't complete the form today make alternative transportation arrangements for Monday. We will post to our CJ Donald Middle School Facebook page bus route information once it is provided. Also, a reminder that it is not too late to sign your child up for the summer enrichment program to advance their learning this summer as well as allow them to participate in fun activities. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and again bus transportation is available but we must have the Google form filled out with your address. Summer school and enrichment start Monday at 8:30 am. CJD Summer Enrichment Reminder: Parents, please return the Summer Enrichment letter if you would like your child to be a participant in our CJD summer program "Winning with Summer Enrichment at CJD." The program will be located at our school in the month of June (breakfast, lunch, and transportation will be provided) from 8:30 am to 2:15 pm and is available to all 6th-8th graders. Students will be aided in improving reading and math proficiency levels. Additionally, they will be exposed to fun and meaningful experiences (crafting, field trips, technology, games, etc.). We look forward to helping our students "W.I.N." (which means giving them "What They Need"). You can ask your child to get another copy if they lost the letter or you can stop by the main office to pick up a copy.

Several Events are Upcoming at CJD. Please listen to the updates: 1. Donald Day is this Thursday, 5/18. The cost of admission is $20.00. TOMORROW, 5/16 is the last day to purchase. It is not open to the public. The cost of the ticket includes an obstacle course and slide, a game truck, DJ, horses, and free treats. Additionally, there will be food trucks that students can visit to purchase items. 2. Girls Basketball tryouts are this Wednesday, 5/17 at 3:45 pm at the high school. Report to the gym. 3. 8th Grade Graduation is this Friday, 5/19 at 11:00 am. 8th graders should adhere to the dress code and rules and protocol provided by the 8th-grade team. 4. Next week is our 6th and 7th-grade Award's Day on Tuesday, 5/23. 6th grade will begin at 9:00 am and 7th grade at 10:00 am.
