We’ve spent August reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Now, we have a question for our little learners:
If YOU could add an animal to the story, what would it be, and what color would you make it?

A pink elephant? A purple puppy? A green giraffe?

There are no wrong answers!

Questions like these encourage children to use imagination, recall a familiar story, make choices, and express their own ideas.

Ask your little learner and share their answer with us below! 👇🏽

❤️ One of the most important things we can give a young child is a sense of belonging.

Our classrooms are places where children can begin discovering their strengths, forming friendships, developing confidence, and learning that who they are matters.

Every child enters our doors with something special to contribute.

Our job is to help them discover it.

Favorite color? Favorite food? Favorite song? Favorite thing to play? Discovering and communicating preferences helps young children learn more about themselves while also discovering how their friends may be different from them. 🏠 Try your own All About Me Interview tonight! Ask your child three or four of their favorite things and let them interview you too. You may be surprised by their answers! 😊 #FairfieldHeadStart #EarlyHeadStart #AllAboutMe #FamilyEngagement #LearningAtHome

“I can do it!” Those four little words can represent a BIG milestone. Buttoning a shirt. Putting away a toy. Washing hands. Carrying a backpack. Using words to ask for help. Completing a classroom task. During our All About Me theme, we’re celebrating what our students can do while encouraging them as they learn what they can do next. Independence grows through opportunities to try. 🌱 #FairfieldHeadStart #EarlyHeadStart #AllAboutMe #GrowingIndependence #EarlyChildhoodEducation

This page serves as the cover and opening section of the Fairfield City Schools Head Start & Early Head Start August 2026 Newsletter. It features a portrait of Program Director Diane Chavers, alongside cartoon illustrations of a friendly tiger cub holding a Head Start building block and a tiger cub standing at a podium holding a book. The text includes the "Program Manager's Corner," welcoming students and families to the 2026–2027 school year, highlighting teacher professional development, and emphasizing curiosity and classroom community. A table of contents outlines upcoming sections such as Learning This Month, Social-Emotional Learning, Book of the Month, and Health & Wellness
This page focuses on early childhood curriculum and features an illustration of an adult tiger teacher guiding two tiger cubs through "All About Me" classroom activities, alongside a photograph of a smiling teacher posing with three young students. The text details the August themes, beginning with "Welcome to School" (August 11–21) to build routines and independence, followed by "All About Me" (August 24–September 4) to explore names, feelings, and family. Bulleted recommendations encourage families to continue learning at home through name tracing, simple interviews, emotion discussions, and sharing family stories.
This page addresses health, wellness, and attendance, featuring a photograph of teachers assisting toddlers at a low table and an illustration of two tiger cubs washing their hands with soap and water at a sink. The text outlines essential wellness habits, such as prioritizing sleep, regular handwashing, staying hydrated, and creating calm morning routines. The "Attendance Matters" section reinforces that daily, on-time arrival is essential for early learning routines, transitions, and long-term academic success.
This page highlights reading and independence, featuring an illustration of a tiger teacher reading a book to a circle of tiger cubs on a classroom rug, paired with a photograph of three young students playing with colorful tangram shapes at a table. It presents the Book of the Month, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, and suggests engaging children in home color hunts to reinforce observation skills. The "Growing Great Kids" section offers tips on fostering independence by encouraging children to perform small daily tasks, such as washing hands, putting toys away, or dressing themselves.
This page covers social-emotional development and features an illustration of an adult tiger sitting with two cubs near a "Feelings" emotion chart and mirror, alongside a photograph of a smiling young girl holding a block in a classroom. Titled "Little People, Big Feelings," the article discusses helping young scholars recognize, name, and manage emotions. It provides sample conversation starters for parents to validate feelings, such as frustration or excitement, and suggests using mirrors, books, and daily check-ins to build emotional communication.
This page provides family resource information in both English and Spanish, accompanied by a heartwarming illustration of an adult tiger warmly hugging a tiger cub. It introduces the August feature, Project SHARE—an emergency energy assistance program run by the American Red Cross to help qualifying low-income, elderly, and disabled individuals with utility bills during peak temperature months. The text lists eligibility guidelines, directs families to contact the Community Action Agency or their Head Start Family Advocate, and provides a QR code for direct access.
This concluding page encourages community connection and features a large, prominent QR code allowing families to scan and follow the official Fairfield City Schools Head Start Facebook page. The surrounding text invites families to stay engaged via social media for real-time announcements, classroom highlights, events, and enrollment updates, closing with a colorful graphic of books, blocks, and a "Thank You for Reading" banner.
This page highlights family partnership and upcoming events, illustrated with a photo of toddlers playing with building blocks in a classroom and a cartoon of a smiling tiger cub with a backpack reading an open book. Under "Family Engagement," parents are encouraged to connect with educators, attend meetings, and celebrate daily learning milestones. A "Dates to Remember" table outlines key September 2026 dates, including Open House (September 2), Labor Day closure (September 7), Fall Pictures (September 8), document and screening deadlines (September 9 & 24), and a Professional Development Day (September 25).
Families come in many shapes, sizes, and forms, and they are an important part of a child’s developing sense of identity. As we explore All About Me, we’re also celebrating the people our students call family, the people who love them, care for them, teach them, and help shape who they are becoming. At Head Start & Early Head Start, families aren't separate from the learning experience. You are our partners in it. #FairfieldHeadStart #EarlyHeadStart #AllAboutMe #FamilyEngagement #HeadStartFamilies #GrowingTogether
