Today we honor Demetrius Newton, a Fairfield native and brilliant attorney who represented Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He became the first Black Speaker Pro Tem of the Alabama House. His life is a blueprint for using excellence to fight for what’s right.
