COVID 19 Developments

Return Home

Dear Fairfield City Schools Family,

Governor Kay Ivey has declared a state of emergency due to concerns over the increasing spread of COVID-19. At the direction of state leaders, ALL public schools in Alabama will close for a duration of 2 ½ weeks. This includes the Fairfield City Schools system.

All Alabama public schools will be closed from Thursday, March 19th through Friday, April 3rd. That means the last day of school will be Wednesday, March 18th.

We want to be clear that there are currently no reported cases of Coronavirus in the Fairfield City Schools system. Our priority is to keep our students and employees safe; therefore, we will continue to follow the guidance of state leadership and health officials.

We will provide more detailed information and direction in the coming days. Please, continue to visit our website, www.fairfieldschoolsystem.com, for the latest updates on how this developing situation will impact our school system. Meanwhile, we urge you to frequently visit the Centers for Disease Control website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) for direct information and tips on keeping your family healthy moving forward.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping Fairfield students and staff safe.

Sincerely,

 Dr. Regina Thompson

Superintendent of Fairfield City Schools
