GOIS 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year

Ms. Winston’s main mission as a school counselor is to foster academic achievement while also focusing on the social emotional well being of ALL students. She is known by students and teachers as being very energetic, collaborative,  and caring. She wholeheartedly believes in serving the community that has given so much to her.

With over 10 years of classroom experience in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade, it is only natural that Ms. Winston serves as a school counselor at the Intermediate level. A product of the Fairfield City School System, Ms. Winston attended Robinson Elementary, Forest Hills Middle School, and is an PROUD  alumni of  Fairfield High Preparatory School Class of 2006.

After, graduating from Fairfield High Preparatory  Ms. Winston received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Montevallo.During her tenure as a classroom teacher, Ms. Winston realized that the social emotional needs of her students were extremely important in order to  succeed academically.  To make more of an monumental impact on student success,  Ms. Winston pursued and obtained a Masters  Degree in School Counseling from The University of West Alabama. 

Currently, she is a  School Counselor  at Glen Oaks Intermediate, where she is a sponsor for the Peer Helpers Club, Member of the Leadership Team, School Safety Team, and  Team Lead of the PBIS Committee. Her mission is for ALL  students to know that they matter and have an advocate to support them in reaching  academic excellence while supporting them through social and emotional hurdles. Ms. Winston is honored to serve in the role of School Counselor in a system where everyone matters.
